Answering All Of Your Cat’s Burning Questions
The day we’ve all been waiting for is finally here! January 22nd is National Answer Your Cat’s Questions Day! It’s a very special feline themed holiday that focuses on you (the responsible cat owner & lover) answering all of your furry friend’s burning questions. Our cats don’t usually listen to us, but today they’re all ears! This article will cover what this holiday is, what it’s all about, and how you can get involved.
A Questionable Holiday
Most cat owners (myself included) wish they’re cat could speak our language. It can sometimes be difficult to understand what or how our furry friends are feeling. Cats are very interesting creatures that go through various moods. Sometimes they’re independent and reserved while other times they’re affectionate and playful. The truth is we really don’t know what’s going through a cats’ mind at any given moment. But, we can make some educated guesses based on their demeanor and behavior. This holiday gives us an opportunity to reflect on how our cats are feeling and just what they are thinking about.
The Purpose Behind The Holiday
There’s nothing wrong with talking to your cat. Sadly, they will usually not talk back. The purpose behind this holiday is to encourage cat owners to empathize with their feline friends. Try to put yourself in your cat’s paws and view the world from their perspective. Once you begin to understand how they perceive the world around them, the more you will begin to understand how they think and feel. Overall, it allows you to better understand their behavior, motives, and attitudes. If you’re looking for a way to become closer with your cat, then this is the purrfect holiday for you!
How You Can Participate
In order to take part in this wonderful and engaging cat themed holiday, you must first come up with a list of questions. Try and create some general questions that you think your cat might be asking us. For example, “Why can’t I scratch the furniture?” or “Why are you always taking pictures of me?” Really try and think like a cat who doesn’t understand human customs and behaviors. Once you have your list of cat questions, try to come up with rational answers to them and explain them to your cat. Again, your cat won’t understand you, but it’s a great bonding experience that will help bring you and your feline friend closer to understanding and loving each other.
The Cats Meow
National Answer Your Cat’s Questions Day was created by Thomas and Ruth Roy from Wellcat.com. They are responsible for a wide variety of other strange and unusual holidays including Bathtub Party Day, No Socks Day, and Bad Poetry Day. As unorthodox as this holiday is, it is also a truly special one. It gives cat owners the opportunity to think like a cat and therefore reach a deeper understanding of what it means to be a cat. Cats are very special creatures and their is still much we don’t fully understand about them. But, little holidays like this help bridge that gap between us and our furry feline friends.
